Virus removal is one of the most common jobs we get.  It can be straightforward with a single virus causing the problem or there can be numerous viruses and pieces of spyware.  Our pricing policy on virus removal takes this into account.

We would always advise that you use an anti-virus program and update it regularly.  Many people do not realise the importance of updating to protect themselves against the newest threats.  Some anti-virus applications offer hourly updates!  Although we recommend subscribing to a reputable supplier, for those who cannot afford the subscription rates, Grisoft  offer a reasonably good free program.

Spyware is an increasingly dangerous and annoying problem. There are many spyware programs available but one of the best is Malwarebytes Anti-Malware which if run regularly should be able to keep your computer free of nuisance programs.  Please be careful if downloading spyware programs from Internet ads.  Many of these are  spyware themselves and once installed on your machine allow further spyware and malware programs to get in. If in doubt please contact us before buying or downloading.  We will do our best to advise.

Finally, a word about scanning.  Both anti-virus and spyware detection programs have the facility to scan your computer for infected files.  Please use this facility on a regular basis - at least once a week and more often if you suspect your machine may be infected.  It is NOT enough to simply have the programs running.
